In reality, it is necessary for the applicant to have received their income during the 3 months preceding their application. Individuals without income are not entitled to this aid. Furthermore, it is not possible to make a catch-up activity bonus. This means that you will not be able to receive payments for periods when you did not apply.

It is not retroactive, with a maximum amount of professional income and resources to be respected. The ceilings that must not be exceeded depend on the composition of the household. The limit for a single person without children is set at 1.5 times the minimum wage. This amounts to €1800 net per month for 2022.

What is the procedure for applying for the activity bonus?

To obtain the activity bonus, it is necessary to apply to the CAF, the MSA, or via an online service. It is possible to make this request at any time of the year. From the first day of the month in which you make the request, the bonus is due to you. As soon as it is granted, the payment will be made to you monthly, at the end of the month.

In simpler terms, you will receive, for example, the bonus for the month of February in March. To receive it, you are required to declare every 3 months the income from the previous quarter. If your situation changes (residence, activities, etc.), you must inform the organization handling the bonus.

You will be asked to provide all the necessary information for calculating your rights. If your application for the activity bonus is rejected, you can appeal to the amicable appeal commission (CRA) of your CAF. If the response does not change, you can still submit an appeal to the administrative court.

What is the amount of the activity bonus?

The amount of the activity bonus is not the same for all applicants. It depends on family situation, income from work, but also on other financial resources. Its calculation involves an addition method that takes everything into account. Information regarding family allowances, housing allowances, unemployment benefits, pensions, and others are also required.

The bonus is primarily calculated based on 5 components. The first is the flat rate amount (A) which is obtained according to the household composition. Next are the professional income (B) retained at 61% and the bonuses (C). The latter is somewhat a supplement granted based on the level of income from work.

The household resources (D) and the housing flat rate (E) complete the list. Thus, to calculate, we simply do: A + B + C + D + E. Since April 1st, the base amount considered for the bonus has been raised to €563.68.
